Kent. That is the name of our favorite band. Weird we haven't mentioned them before right? Wife and I thought we should remedy that now, especially since we were on their farewell tour 10 days ago. I'm not even sure what to write or how to write it, I'm speechless but bursting with emotion at the same time. You see, I started listening to this band when I was 5 years old, and when we had a singing "competion" at my preschool I preformed one of their most well known songs, "Kärleken väntar." (Love Awaits) My teachers thought this to be an unsual song choice of a child my age, but my father was extremely proud. I had found the CD to their most famous album, "Vapen och Ammunition," in his car a few months back and I'd fallen in love. I'd fallen in love with their deep and cryptic lyrics (which was waaaay beyond my understanding at the time.) I'd fallen in love with Jockes solemn, agonized and velvet smooth voice. Id' fallen in love with the beats, the riff, the synth and bass. To summarize, I fell deeply in love with their music, and as I became older I admired the wonderful people who stood behind it all. You see, even though some of their songs are about such cliché subjects such as broken hearts and the feeling of falling in love, and some songs are about...well your guess is as good as mine, most of them are deeper. It's about life, death and everything in between. About history. Injustice. Politics. The enviroment. And how the climate in this country and in our world is growing colder and more hateful with every passing minute. Their songs are inspirational, they are about daring to be who you really are, about standing up for what you believe in, about seeing the world for what it is (dark, cold and unforgivning) and about having the guts to keep living in it and try to make a change despite it all. Their songs and life stories have kept me going through some really dark times.

Regn
Smyger ner och viskar nya språk
mot fönstren
är årstider ett minne blott
spår av inlandsisarna

Marken ligger uppskrapad

i natt

i natt

And of course Wife loves them as much as I do. I became obssessed with them and had to play "Vapen och Ammunition" for her. She became obssessed too. We usually like the same music, I rarely dislike anything she plays and most of the time she doesn't find my music completely distasteful x) Buuut the one band we can both wholeheartedly say that we love is Kent. Of course when we both went to one of their last concerts in Luleå..."Obssessed" is now too mild a term. I actually told her that I would pay to give Jocke Berg (the singer) a blowjob. They aren't beautiful people really, most of them are average, especially now when they are older...But their souls? Their personalitites? Their charisma? All of them were sooo warm, grateful, enthused, funny and loving! There is no other band out there which possess as much integrity as these guys. Every singel one of them are worthy of admiration. And when we almost got touched by Martin....*heart attack.* (Wife had the pleasure of getting to attend another one of their concerts...and actually got to touch him! FREAKING AMAZING OMGGGG!!!!!) Okay...freak out under control xD The concert was...astounding. It was beautiful, heartbreaking, joyful and a good farewell to this epic gang of men. Kent, you are kings in every meaningful sense of the word.

And getting to be there, on their last tour, with my best friend...there is no one else I would rather have been there with! I'm so happy that I got to experience that with her. We sang along to every song. Hugged each other in happiness and sorrow. Grinned til our cheeks hurt and let our eyes tear when our emotions got the best of us. Sometimes it feels like their songs were written for us. When they depict their view of friendship with poetic clarity all I can think is...that's us they're singing about. I see us in their everlasting friendships. And now, even though they are gone, their songs will always remain. And so will we.

"Allt det goda allt det onda som vi är
Allt det vackra det jävliga vi gör
Vi är samma vi är lika vi är en
Så låt mig vara din enda vän"

.....................................................................

"Sagor för barnen som är som du
(om en tunnel i ljusets slut)
Jag är din vän och vi lär oss av varann
(det är ett av skälen)
Ge dom ett finger och värm min hand
(i ett iskallt IKEA-land)
Du är min vän och vi lär oss av varann
(bara ett av skälen, ett av skälen,
ett av skälen, ett av skälen)"
